Another Update

This is where I live now…..

Oizumigakuen is an area near Nerima City in Tokyo. It is home to Toei Animation Studio. Technically I will not move in until this weekend. I have spent a few days walking around the town, but soon I will be there all the time. Most of my time has been spent on training for my new job and furniture shopping in Tokyo.

My family in Japan has been kind enough to let us stay with them in Gunma Tatebayashi while we wait to move into our own apartment. Ponchan is the town mascot. It is a beautiful area that is famous for it’s flower viewing. When I have time I try to get out and walk around the local park. The flowers are not in bloom yet, but it is still nice to get out and see the open spaces.

The park is very large and well maintained. It stretches around a large pond (or small lake).

The sakura trees are still in bloom. They are starting to lose the blossoms and it creates an anime like effect as the pink blossoms fall around you or blow in a window with a light breeze.

I have been lucky to enjoy great weather on my walks!

I have been eating well, as I am sure most of you expected.

I have had lots of udon, and even enjoyed some Korean bbq while in Tokyo.

The bakeries are insanely good and everywhere I go there is a new one. I have been trying, unsuccessfully, to control myself.

One last interesting fact is that near where I am moving there is a museum like exhibit about the making of Harry Potter. In honor of that there is a Harry Potter train often at my transfer station.

Sorry again for not having my blog working and complete. Hopefully once I move in to my new apartment I will have time to work on it and get it fully functional.
